The Redoubt Board has been working diligently to respond to your suggestions and improve the overall experience your children have while participating in our program. Feedback received this fall has lead to an overall change to the Redoubt program for children ages 10 through 13. We hope this new program will encourage more participation and build the skill level of these kids.
In the past, we have played against other youth organizations. The new program will be self contained. We will only play against other Redoubt teams in the same age category. This means we will only play games at Redoubt, not around town. We are also combining the practices for each gender in order to benefit from all the coaches and give the kids an opportunity to practice more frequently.
Redoubt operates under a draft system in order to ensure that our teams are as equally matched as possible. We try to accommodate requests for children that car pool and parents who wish to coach their own children. We are limited to a few requests per team in order to maintain the balance on the teams.
Practices for this league are on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings and games are scheduled on a rotating basis on Friday and/or Saturday. By rotating the games, no one team gets the 8:00 am game on every Saturday.
What to Expect after you register:
Registration fees for Rec players: $85.00:
Draft: Feb. 20, 2010. (Coaches only)
Spring Season Starts: March 5 and 6, 2010
We do not close for Spring Break. We will take a break the weekend of Easter which is April 2-3, 2010. The Coach from each team will work with the opposing team to work out a schedule for those dates. If the teams cannot play on the weekend without forfit, they will schedule a game during a regular practice date which is mutually approved.
Please review the Code of Conduct page on our website. We encourage parents and players to read this so we can have the best season with the most positive environment possible.
Practices:
You will now have the option of bringing your U12 or U14 player to practice on Tuesday and Thursday or just one day. It is up to the player and parent. Girls practices will be held early on Tuesdays at 5:45 and then switch to later on Thursdays at 7:00. Boys will practice in the later time slot on Tuesdays at 7:00 and switch to the earlier time on Thursdays at 5:45. Practices will concentrate heavily on foot-skills and individual improvement.
Games
The teams will be divided every Saturday among the players who show up each week according to the skill level shown during practices. Teams will be evenly divided in order to have good matches. We are hoping the new method will allow for greater flexibility and more centralized communication to the parents and players. Each child will be exposed to advanced level skills training and have an opportunity to play hard.
Communication
This new program will rely heavily on the website and emails to communicate with the parents. Please let us know at enrollment if you do not have easy access to a computer for your communications.
Mandatory parent and player meeting/practice on Feb. 27th at 10 am for girls and 12 pm for boys.
